Does it only happen with Guild Wars, or does it happen with other games as well?
Edit: Should have mentioned this earlier: what other games do you play on the system?

have you checked system temps? That's the most likely reason for it to shut off mid-game. If you don't already have a program to monitor system temps, you can download Everest Ultimate Trial Version for free... it's pretty good monitoring software. If you have checked that all out already, what temps are you running across the board?

75-80C? Or Fahrenheit? 75-80F is cold for a computer system... I'm thinking 80 C which is 176 F... wayyy to hot for just about any hardware.

check to make sure your drivers are up to date.
just want to let you know it can be a hardware issue still. I had a similar issue that happened to me that required a power supply replacement.

Definitely can be a hardware issue, I had lockups during GW only where I had to force reboot, but it was my videocard causing it.

About 4 years ago the new video card I bought for 150 dollars, 1 week later a thunderstorm struck thru my comp or some bs, and whole tower melted, so anything can happen.
It may/may not be hardware, but it's a possibility.

80c would be normal for some GFX cards, my 8800GTX's in SLI will easily reach 80c while under full load and gaming.
As for the Original post, stating its NOT a hardware issue because of his specs, thats a common mistake, just because you have good hardware does not mean it cannot be the hardware,
Random system turnoff's during anytime normally point towards PSU issues, the mere fact that you have 2, im assuming one is to power the pump on the water cooler etc, is it even remotely possible that one of them is failing to produce the power needed.
Does your event viewer show any crashs/errors right before the system turns off?

Nah, i made it a point to divide every piece of my hardware between the two PSUs so the water cooling is half on one half on the other. Also, i defragged my gw.dat file, and now it just takes longer to shutdown. and no, no error signs. lols, i guess im really really screwed =D

try swapping the RAM out if you have any other DIMMs available.... may be faulty RAM, and if not you only loose 10 minutes max of your time in testing it. Also, try to test it by running on just one PSU - you don't need 1200 watts to power that system.

The same thing was happening to me awhile back. My computer would just randomly shut off during gameplay, and sometimes when I was just surfing the 'net. I took it in, and it turned out to be my HD. Got it changed, and it was smooth sailing for awhile, until my GPU started acting up, causing my computer to freeze. Gah, computers. lol.

well, i turned off one PSU, no go, also, I don't really want to buy more RAM for $40, sry. Could it be the GPU? Cuz i just got it 2 months ago, i suppose it could be the HD, but i have a 300GB and a 500GB hard-drive, which one woul it be? GW is on the 300GB one

if it is affecting GW than the HDD with GW installed would be the possible culprit... did you try each PSU separately?
GPU shouldn't be having any trouble, but you could try playing GW with a different video card (if available) or even onboard graphics....

Your CPU appears to be a quad-core cpu.. and iirc Guild Wars seems to have issue's with dual & quad core systems. (at least for some people.. I have dual-core and never had an issue)
Have you checked the association when GW is running? Maybe associate it with only 1 core and see if that resolves the issue..
to do..
- Run GW
- minimize it
- open Task Manager (generally press alt & ctrl & del .. and then click "Open Task Manager" if given that option)
- go to the Processes Tab
- Right click on Gw.exe
- Click on "Set Affinity"
- Untick all but 1 cpu core
- click ok..
And then test it out. the fact that you have tried it on another HD, tried different video cards as well as the PSU's.. does tend to remove them from the equation.. which sort-of leaves bad memory or issue's with the cpu/mb.. and because GW has a known issue with dual & quad cores.. I'd give that a look-into.
The other thing - do you run any anti-virus and/or firewall software? If you do, have you tried disabling them when running GW to see if for whatever reason they are causing conflicts/issue's and are behind the reboots?
